Your route will take you from hillsides to villages, from châteaux to stately homes and from Red Crus to famous Great White Wines on a journey where no two stages are the same, through a whole host of landscapes, and with the art of enjoying life all about you, wherever you look. Enjoy yourselves; try the local gastronomy and great wines – although in moderation, of course !

Itinerary: Driving holiday lasting 4 days / 3 nights / 3½ days

Day 1 : check into your splendid guest house and settle into your room.

Take a short walk anywhere through the streets of Macon, following the tourist map. Interesting Taste wine at your accommodation, after which you will have dinner and spend the night there.

Day 2 : approximately 80 km (50 miles) “Red and White”

Red means the Beaujolais region with its villages and their famous Crus such as Moulin à Vent, Chénas, Juliénas, Saint Amour, etc. A superb panoramic road which takes you right up to its highest point where you can enjoy a lovely little stroll (1.5 km – just under a mile) and learn about the 10 Crûs du Beaujolais before visiting a Wine centre which is the only one of its kind in France, a temple to the worship of the vine, including a wine tasting.

White means the famous “Pouilly Fuissé”; you will be able to explore the 5 terroirs of a unique grape variety by moving from one village to another. It also includes the Roches de Solutré, a truly magical place, and Vergisson, which is a “Grand Site de France” and an amazing setting with spectacular panoramic views. Comparative tasting of the five Pouilly Fuissé terroirs with a commentary by a specialist. Return to your accommodation, after which you will have dinner and spend the night there.

Day 3 : approximately 80 km (50 miles) “Remarkable Heritage”

Watch the Clunisois region unfurl before your eyes on a route marked by all the glories of its past. You can explore the Abbaye de Cluny - which was once the largest in the world – by going on a fascinating guided tour. Then you can visit a château with magnificent gilded halls on the "Route des Ducs de Bourgogne" (Route of the Dukes of Burgundy).

Return to your accommodation, after which you will have a gourmand dinner and spend the night there.

Day 4 : approximately 80 km (50 miles) “Blue White and Red”

Blue White and Red means the Bresse chicken which you will be able to see on the market in Louhans and then why not taste the "head of veal "or the "corniotte"? A guided tour of the Hôtel Dieu hospital will show you a fascinating chapter of history before you continue your exploration of our local heritage.

Your trip finishes at the end of the day.

- Round-trip plane tickets for two in coach on AIR FRANCE from winner’s nearest US Air France gateway to France. Winner will have to pay all taxes and fuel surcharges on the flight. Based on availability at time of reservation. Extensions are not permitted at any time. The trip is valid until October 30th 2011 on a space available basis. Winner and Guest are responsible for all taxes and for all travel, accommodations and expenses not specifically included in the prize description. These include, but are not limited to: travel expense from his/her home to the nearest Air France gateway to France, dinners, lunches, drinks, and tickets to attractions during the trip.

- Two France RailPasses to travel by train in France. All the conditions normally imposed by Rail Europ for the France RailPass will apply. Winner will have to pay all the additional fees (seat reservations, etc.) normally imposed by Rail Europ.
